Dr. Asha Baxi is a highly efficient, methodical, and gentle clinician with extensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She practiced abroad for a decade before returning to India, where she has made pioneering contributions in infertility and endoscopy. She is also passionate about teaching and regularly conducts FOGSI-recognised courses in infertility and endoscopy.
She completed her MBBS and MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore. In recognition of her contributions to the field, she was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) and the Fellowship of the Indian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FICOG).
Her clinical experience includes associations with prominent names in Mumbai such as Dr. Sadhana Desai, Dr. M. Hansotia, Dr. Motashaw, and Dr. Soonawalla. While working with Dr. Desai, she developed a keen interest in infertility, which led her to the UK, where she worked at Northampton and Dewsbury and obtained the prestigious MRCOG. She gained in-depth knowledge in infertility at the Northampton, Oxford, and Bournehall fertility units, where the world’s first IVF baby was conceived.
She has been a faculty member at numerous national and international conferences, served as Joint Secretary of the IFFS World Congress in 2016, and was the organizing chairperson for the ISAR National Conference in 2016. She also chaired the Infertility Committee of FOSI from 2017 to 2019.
She has authored chapters in books on infertility and published extensively in reputed journals. For her original work in infertility and genital tuberculosis, she received the prestigious Dr. Kumud Tamaskar Award and the Best Publication Prize from the Indian Journal of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
She believes in adopting new technologies while optimally utilising existing ones to benefit patients. She is committed to providing holistic fertility care, helping couples achieve parenthood and live a complete life.
